🎤 NEW LIVE EVENT – FAST CARS!WEDNESDAY 18 NOVEMBER | WHITE LABEL, MANCHESTER
I’m delighted to announce the next Manchester Scene Stories live event, featuring brothers Steve and Stuart Murray of legendary Manchester band Fast Cars, at the newly opened White Label in Depot Mayfield.
Formed in Swinton in 1978, Fast Cars were part of Manchester’s original punk and new wave scene, sharing stages with bands including Joy Division, Buzzcocks and The Jam.
Their 1979 single The Kids Just Wanna Dance became a cult favourite, with the band later discovering an extraordinary following in Japan, where they returned to perform decades after their original release.
From the early days of Manchester punk and the city’s legendary music venues to recording studios, missed opportunities and unexpected international success, Steve and Stuart have some remarkable stories to tell.
I’ll be chatting with both brothers in front of a live audience, revisiting a fascinating period in Manchester’s musical history.
I’m also really excited to be bringing Manchester Scene Stories to White Label, a brand-new café and music space at Depot Mayfield, close to Piccadilly Station.
It’s a fantastic setting for an evening celebrating Manchester’s musical heritage.
