About this Event
Come Together in Community
In additional to our regular Makerspace Open Hours, sometimes we have special projects which occur during Makerspace. These creative opportunities are always optional.
Special Makerspace Event(s):
🌱 Mondays during Makerspace: In addition to crafting and creating, every Monday there is an opportunity to work in the Shakti Community Garden with our fearless leader, Cleo Hankins. Cleo received a grant to participate in the Build It Up Backyard Gardeners Program, and consequently, has information to share as well as specific goals to meet. If you want more information, then please contact Cleo directly ([email protected]). We are going to have an amazing garden this year!
💟 Panes of Perspective with Samarah Zamora
Friday, March 28 at 3 pm • Free. No registration required.
We will be blending a beginner-friendly faux stained glass craft with thoughtful learning and meaningful conversations about how we can work to unify our communities. Together, we’ll explore creative ways to “put the pieces back together,” addressing divides that often make dialogue within our community challenging.
✨Every Week
We invite you to join us for a time of community and creativity in a space where you can participate in a wide array of art, craft and writing activities. The Shakti Makerspace is designed to be an evolving creative environment for community members.
In the Makerspace you will find equipment and supplies for a variety of expressive activities and craft projects. We will have examples and kits for seasonal projects to make from start to finish or you can use the available supplies to create something from your own imagination and interests.
There will be supplies available for you to collage, color, paint, knit, crochet, sew, art journal and more. You can also bring any of your own projects to finish up in a space of shared creative energy and support.
We hope in this way to offer something for everyone. Use the Makerspace Open Hours as a time and space to mindfully focus in a peaceful, cooperative setting. You can make something or write something or just enjoy being in the creative energy and see what emerges for you.
There is no fee to participate in Makerspace Open Hours. Join us for a few minutes. Join us for the whole time. Join us for whatever fits into your schedule. We offer this to the community as a space where we can use our hands to continue to open our hearts.
Free. Everyone welcome. No need to register. Come as you are, when you can. We look forward to creating with you.
