About this Event
Come learn from steel and concrete sculptor Kevin McCurdy the basics of sculpting, and make your own unique design to take home at the end of the workshop! Sessions will be broken down as follows:
January 23: Sculpting. Students will learn basic sculpting techniques and what types of shapes will work for a 1 part mold, then will form their object to cast.
January 30: Mold Making. Students will be shown how to build a mold using found materials and guided through the process of mixing and pouring their silicone mold.
February 6: Casting. Students will learn the proper proportions for their cement mix and will mix and cast their form.
February 13 : Painting. It’s unveiling day! We will demonstrate how to remove sculptures from the molds and will give each student the opportunity to unveil their piece for the class. They will then add color as desired through painting their cement sculptures!
Designed for ages 8-13.
