Make your Own Ramen Bowl at The Pottery Shop (DI & Durango)

Ready to take your pottery wheel skills a little further? Join us for an intermediate wheel class focused on throwing a ramen-style bowl.

This class is best suited for guests who have some prior experience on the pottery wheel and are comfortable with the basics of throwing. You do not need to be an expert, but if you’ve never used a pottery wheel before, we recommend starting with one of our Try It Wheel sessions before registering for this class.

Limited Spots Available:

We have a limited number of wheels per session, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance!

• Have your own wheel for 60 minutes.
• Includes 3 (~1.5 pound) balls of clay and the firing of 1 piece.*
• $10 non-refundable deposit required to reserve, with the balance paid at the studio.

During the session, your instructor will guide you through throwing a ramen-style bowl while building on the wheel skills you already have.

Once your piece dries, we'll fire it in the kiln and your finished piece will be ready to take home in approximately 4–6 weeks.

This is an intermediate-level recreational pottery experience and is best for participants with some previous wheel experience. We’ll focus on guiding you through throwing a ramen-style bowl, but pottery is skill-based and every participant’s results will vary.

We cannot guarantee that you will create a fire-able piece or achieve the demonstrated bowl shape. If you do not end the session with a piece suitable for firing, you may choose a finished piece as a memento of your session.

Ceramics are an extremely unpredictable medium, and we are unable to guarantee pieces won't crack during the multiple phases of the process, including drying, bisque firing and glaze firing. Ceramics also shrink approximately 15% from the time you throw your piece through final firing.

• Classes begin and end at the published times and last 1 hour or until you use your 3 balls of clay, whichever comes first.
• Additional clay may be purchased for $5 per ball if time permits.
• Want to keep more than your included piece? Additional pieces may be fired for $15 each, including glazing and the second firing.
• We are a CASHLESS studio and accept all major credit cards and Apple Pay.

• No cancellations or rescheduling within 48 hours of the class.
• No credits or refunds are issued for no-shows.

• Everyone in the wheel area must be registered. No spectators.
• No open-toed shoes.
• Fingernails may get dirty or break.
• Wear comfortable clothing that can get messy (no skirts, dresses or kilts).
• No loose jewelry or rings.
• Long hair should be tied back.
