About this Event
Holiday Shadow Casters: Clay Workshop

A little clay, a little holiday magic! Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create your own set of 3 holiday Shadow Casters—handmade tealight holders to bring a cozy glow to your space.

Choose from trees, snowmen and little houses and others to mix & match your three favorites. Make a holiday trio or your own little winter village! We’ll guide you step-by-step through the hand building process, so no clay experience is needed.

$40 per person
Ages 12+

Your workshop includes:

  • Clay and all materials
  • 3 handmade Shadow Casters — mix & match your shapes
  • Step-by-step instruction
  • A second visit to add your painted details.

Because handmade ceramics require drying and specialty firing, please allow approximately 2 weeks for it to be ready to add color, and approximately an additional 2 weeks to fire once your color has been added. Please keep this timing in mind if you’re making pieces for holiday decorating or gifting.

Important: Seating is reserved for workshop participants. No spectators. All guests attending must have a paid reservation.

Finishing Options

Included: Once your items are fired the first time, you will receive a text invitation to book your return visit to add basic painted colors.

Specialty Glazing: (Additional Fee): Return for one of our glazing workshops, offered several times each month, to glaze your creations yourself before their final firing. These workshops feature specialty stoneware glazes rather than detailed picture painting.

Photos show project inspiration. Your handmade shapes and glaze results will vary—that’s part of their charm!

Important Things to Know

This is a beginner hand building experience — no pottery wheel.

Ceramics are an unpredictable medium, and we cannot guarantee that your pieces will survive the drying, bisque firing or glaze firing process. Cracking, warping, separation, breakage and variations in shape or glaze can occur. Clay also shrinks approximately 15% from wet clay to the finished piece.

If a piece is not fire-able or does not survive the process, you may choose a finished piece as a memento of your session.

Class length is approximately 45 minutes–2 hours, depending on class size, skill level and project details. Classes begin and end at the published times.
