About this Event
MAHJ AT MOJO! 🀄️💕
Gorgeous Tiles. Beautiful Company. A Little Mahjong Obsession.
Our love affair with the Hoboken community began in February 2025, when Keep Mahjing On hosted our very first Mahjong event at MOJO in honor of Galentine's Day. 💕
Since then, we've taught over 500 students from Hoboken and the surrounding communities, and trust us, WE'RE JUST GETTING STARTED!
What began as a fun evening of learning Mahjong has turned into something so much bigger: new friendships, familiar faces, packed tables and a growing community of people who just can't get enough of this incredible game.
And we couldn't be more excited to keep the good times rolling at MOJO!
🀄️ MAHJONG 101 — BRAND NEW TO THE GAME?
No experience? NO PROBLEM!
Mahjong 101 is designed for anyone who has never played American Mahjong before. Whether you've been curious about the game for years or have absolutely no idea what a Bam, Crak or Dot is, this is where your Mahjong journey begins!
Our instructors will introduce you to the tiles, the National Mah Jongg League card, the Charleston and the fundamentals of American Mahjong in a fun, welcoming and approachable environment.
You'll learn in pairs around a Mahjong table, so everyone can follow along and participate.
No prior knowledge necessary. Just bring yourself and an open mind!
💕 GUIDED OPEN PLAY — ALREADY KNOW THE BASICS?
If you've completed at least one instructional Mahjong lesson and have a basic understanding of how to play, Guided Open Play is for you!
Come practice your skills, build confidence, meet fellow Mahjong lovers and enjoy a fun evening around the table.
Our instructors will be available to answer questions, offer light guidance and help keep things moving.
PLEASE NOTE: Guided Open Play is NOT a Mahjong lesson. Players must already be familiar with the basic rules and gameplay. If you're brand new, please register for Mahjong 101 instead!
