"An unfiltered mix of gritty garage rock, surfy post-punk, and rock ’n roll — packed into infectious songs and a tight, high-energy live show full of wild stage antics and unpredictable chaos. Magnetic Spacemen is a charismatic live act, offering the perfect escape from the Monday-to-Friday grind and making you crave the thrill of a sweaty, bouncing crowd.
Their album ‘Papoya Poya’ (2021) received critical acclaim from the Dutch press and was named Garage Rock Album of the Year. With performances at festivals like Left of The Dial, Hit The City, Sniester, Dauwpop, and Zwarte Cross, and support shows for bands like Fidlar and Together Pangea, Magnetic Spacemen have made a name for themselves internationally as well, playing shows in France, Belgium, the UK, Bulgaria, and Germany. The follow-up album ‘Polished Minds’ came out in 2023: a fresh and versatile record full of raw, unpolished tracks — described by OOR Magazine (the Netherlands’ #1 music publication) as “nothing less than brilliant.” After a sold-out Polished Minds release tour in the Netherlands, the band didn’t just play one, but two tours across France in 2024 and 2025, bringing their electrifying live experience to new audiences.
‘Carousel’ (album 4) will be released on October 10th, 2025 via Goomah Music, and was recorded at Roy’s Kitchen in Kotten — a quiet village in the Achterhoek region near the German border. The band spent several sessions there recording the album in stages, surrounded by peace, nature, and German drinks. The album was produced and mixed by bassist Redmer Kamsma. Thematically, ‘Carousel’ reflects on life itself — the carousel of recurring existential questions. Personal themes such as the loss of parents, heartbreak, bad habits that trap you in vicious cycles, and yes, even dildos, are woven throughout — all balanced with the lightheartedness and irony you’d expect from Magnetic Spacemen.
The release of ‘Carousel’ will be celebrated with two release shows: October 10th at Burgerweeshuis in Deventer with UK band Heavy Lungs as special guest, and November 29th at EKKO in Utrecht with Rotterdam-based Smudged. A Dutch club tour will follow throughout the end of the year.
For those who don’t know the band yet, file under acts like: Oh Sees, Parquet Courts, DEVO, and The Stooges."
