Francisco Guerrero (1528–1599): Beata Dei genitrix, Regina Caeli, Maria Magdelene & more
The sacred music of Renaissance Spain achieved remarkable heights in the works of Francisco Guerrero and Alonso Lobo. Guerrero's expressive melodies and radiant vocal writing embodied the devotion and artistic richness of Spain's Golden Age, while Lobo built upon this legacy with music of profound emotional depth and contrapuntal mastery. Together, these two composers created some of the Spanish Renaissance's most beautiful and enduring sacred works, inspiring performers and audiences more than four centuries later.
