Welcome to Magick Innit, Bristol's inclusive esoteric moot.
Wed October 21st: Necromancy with Jules McArthur
Necromancy, the art of communicating with the dead, is one of the most ancient magical arts. From Odysseus' journey to the Underworld, to the Witch of Endor, to Victorian seances, the dead have always been ready to speak to the living. In this illustrated lecture, necromancer and scholar Jules McArthur will explore the necromantic practices of the ancient Greek and Romans, showing how they can still be used safely today.
Jules McArthur (they/them) has devoted their life to the study and practice of ancient magic. They have both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Classics, specialising in the Greek Magical Papyri. They are also a professional tarot reader and a long-standing practitioner of magic, appearing on several popular podcasts such as Seeking Witchcraft. They a regular tutor at Treadwell's bookshop, teaching on a range of ancient magical topics. They can be found at julesmcarthur.co.uk.
Magick Innit is a welcoming, friendly space to learn, meet others and get connected with like minded practitioners.
Past events include: talks by Marian Green and Professor Ronald Hutton, intuitive tarot workshops, 'my magical thing' occult show & tell with Julian Vayne, sigil talk and workshops with Mark Vincent, a musical Druidic celebration, and a practical hands-on workshop making portable micro altars. We are always open to suggestions!
