About this Event
An exhibition by Jack Thomas
Join us for the preview of Magical Worlds, with warm drinks and an opportunity to explore the exhibition.
Magical Worlds explores the mystical elements of ordinary reality through collage, drawing inspiration from magical realism and the imaginative world-building of artists such as Leonora Carrington.
Influences ranging from classic works of Surrealism to the thangkas of Nepali monasteries, the exhibition explores the intersection of cosmology, mysticism, and humour.
In a zeitgeist saturated by images, collage offers a playful way to navigate chaos and forge some element of harmony. Through the process of gathering, dissecting, rearranging and settling, disparate images click together like a jigsaw, evoking strange stories and feelings.
Magical Worlds invites visitors to embrace absurdity, blend the lines between reality and imagination, and see their world afresh.
