Why Bliss-mas? The perfect musical gift! Arthur Bliss' chamber songs are very intricately written, beautiful and highly characterful pieces, however are seldom heard in concerts in this day and age.
Following the vocalise processional, “Rhapsody”; “Madam Noy” displays the humorous story-telling we enjoy during the holiday season; and “Rout” depicts “the scraps of song that reach a listener watching a carnival from an open window” - a fresh reflection on holiday festivities, outdoor markets and carollers.
These songs are tied together by a variety many different musical gifts: Rach-ing around the the Christmas tree with one of classical music’s greatest symphonic showstoppers; and some holiday favourites, but with a number of [very] EXTRA musical twists!
The Madhouse Orchestra is an international festival ensemble of world-class professional musicians, who play in orchestras around the UK and Europe. Each musician has a unique playing style and musical personality, but as a symphonic force they prove that music is the true international language.
Join conductor Fergus McAlpine and the Madhouse Orchestra and Carollers for an unforgettable evening of vocal-chamber-symphonic music; guaranteed to satisfy your Christmas music fix!
All tickets over the age of 18 include one free drink (wine served mulled or otherwise) and a minced pie.
