An intimate conversation with Danielle Alvarez to celebrate the release of her latest book Made Simple
About this Event

There’s something special about having a favourite author back at Books for Cooks, especially when we cook from her books in our own kitchen.

Originally from Miami, Danielle trained in some of America’s best-known kitchens, including The French Laundry and Chez Panisse in California, before moving to Australia. As head chef of Sydney’s acclaimed Fred’s, she became known for her seasonal cooking and her ability to make the most of good ingredients.

We were fortunate to launch both Danielle’s first book, Always Add Lemon, and her second, Recipes for a Lifetime of Beautiful Cooking, here at Books for Cooks. We regularly use both at home, so we know firsthand how useful and inspirational they are in the kitchen.

In Made Simple, Danielle turns her attention to everyday cooking, showing how good ingredients, seasonal produce and straightforward techniques can make a meal special without unnecessary fuss. With more than 80 recipes, the book offers fresh ideas and clever combinations that encourage cooks to try something new while keeping things achievable.

Simple cooking need never be dull. Danielle knows when to keep things straightforward and when a small twist can make all the difference. Her approach is a reminder to cook with the seasons and make the most of what’s fresh and available.

We’ll put that philosophy into practice on the evening, preparing a selection of tastes from Made Simple using seasonal produce sourced from the Queen Victoria Market, just outside our front door. It’s a chance to try the recipes and discover what the book has to offer.

Whether you’re looking for inspiration for weeknight dinners or dishes to share with friends, Made Simple deserves a place in the kitchen. Alongside Danielle’s first two books, it shows how good cooking can be inventive, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable.

Please join us on Tuesday 10th November to celebrate another wonderful book from one of our favourite authors, Danielle Alvarez.
