About this Event
Madam Madam | Edible Memoir
Edible Memoirs is a gathering series built around the women who carry so much of what we know.
At each gathering, we sit around a table with a woman and learn something she knows how to make, do, or pass down. Food is our entry point, but the experience goes beyond the recipe. We hear where a dish comes from, how she learned it, the ways she makes it her own, and the stories that have traveled with it.
For this gathering, we’ll spend the afternoon with Madam Yvonne, learning a traditional Haitian meal of legume, white rice, and sos pwa blan, alongside a homemade Haitian drink.
The afternoon will include a mix of demonstration and hands-on cooking, giving you the opportunity to watch, ask questions, and learn her way of making each dish. We’ll then sit down together for an intimate, family-style dinner and enjoy the meal we’ve made.
The gathering is intentionally intimate, creating space to slow down, connect, and spend a little time listening to a woman who has something to pass down.
Come hungry. Leave knowing a little more than you came with.
