About this Event
Join us as we close out Macon Pride at the Mounds. This hike will be 2-2.5 miles and is moderate as there are tree roots and rocks in some places. This is a beginner friendly hike but is also enjoyable for those who are more experienced. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash.
We will meet in front of the visitor center. There are restrooms and water bottle fountains inside the center.
What you will need:
-Water, please bring more than you think you will need
-Tick preventative, I will have some spray to share
-Comfortable and closed-toe shoes, sneakers work well
-Moisture-wicking clothing, workout clothes work well
-Sunscreen, we will be in the sun a little bit
-Bag or pack, this is to carry everything because holding a water bottle gets old, besides, where will you keep your snack?
Our pace will be determined by those in attendance. This hike will not be fast, the finish is not the goal. We will stop to look at mushrooms, take pictures of moss, wonder at holes in trees, and enjoy each other's company.
