About this Event
This original play fuses modern absurdist drama and the classical tragedy of Shakespeare. It explores the evolution of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth from the Elizabethan era to the present day.
Five hundred years ago, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth pursued a crown through M**der, only to meet their destruction. Lady Macbeth becomes a ghost in the nether-world, but she remains deeply in love with Macbeth. Five centuries later, the couple has entered modern civilization, equipped with education, social standing, and a respectable identity. Yet Macbeth’s desires remain unchanged. The choices he makes are so unexpected that even Lady Macbeth is caught off guard.
This play premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2026 and garnered great reviews from the audience.
A German audience member told the playwright: “This isn't a Macbeth problem. It's a world problem. When I get home, I'm going to reread Shakespeare's Macbeth.”
Another audience member remarked on the Fringe website: “The two leads are strong, and create some powerful moments of intensity and emotion, as well as joyous scenes of unbridled silliness. For me, this is what Fringe theatre is about - taking a chance on something different.”
Performed by two actors portraying six characters, the production weaves Shakespeare's iconic lines into familiar Hip-Hop rhythms, creating an intimate, immersive theatrical experience filled with absurdity, humor, and dramatic tension.
