Persian song and poetry in an encounter with jazz, classical and improvisation.

Every two years the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NJJO) has a new artistic leader. After singer and pianist Ruben Hein in 2019 and 2020, the torch has now been passed to Maarten Hogenhuis. The saxophone maestro will lead the NJJO until the end of 2022. Especially for the orchestra he has written an eclectic program on the cutting edge of jazz, pop and afro-grooves.
Backed up by 30.000 fellow musicians and artists, the NJJO was awarded with the Zilveren Kotekraker-award as a new tastemaker for music venues. Led by Maarten Hogenhuis, they will complete a coaching trajectory, coupled to tours and various international collaborative projects. Alto saxophonist Maarten Hogenhuis is a member of power jazz formation BRUUT!, he plays in a duo with guitarist Jesse van Ruller, and he leads his own trio as well.
