SESSION DESCRIPTION:
In this beginner-friendly workshop, participants will learn a traditional Métis two-needle beading technique to create a simple five-petal flower pin. All supplies will be provided and are included in session fee.
Please arrive between 8:30 - 9:00 AM to the Winnipeg Art Gallery entrance at 300 Memorial Blvd. (The old entrance with the circular lights above!) These doors will be locked shortly after 9:00 AM. WAG-Qaumajuq (the new entrance) is closed to the public until 11:00 AM.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Vi Houssin (she/her) is a beadwork artist of white settler and Red River Métis ancestry. Her Métis family names are Ritchot, Poitras, Larence and Plante, and her ancestors held scrip in St. Vital and St. Boniface. She is a proud member of the Two-Spirit Michif Local and a citizen of the Manitoba Metis Federation. Vi works and lives in Winnipeg, Canada on Treaty 1 territory where she was born and raised.
