SESSION DESCRIPTION:
In this session, you'll witness the creative possibilities of projection mapping using MadMapper, meet Winnipeg media artist jaymez, and learn how this emerging art form can be integrated into Grades 9–12 Visual Arts, Dramatic Arts and more!
You'll get a demonstration, previewing Video Pool's classroom-ready education kits and Manitoba curriculum-aligned teaching units, with opportunities to continue your learning through a future hands-on bootcamp. Whether you're new to digital media or looking to expand your teaching practice, this session will introduce practical tools, creative ideas, and flexible options, including artist-led classroom workshops, to help bring media arts to your students.
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
With a diverse background in visual art, dance, theatre, opera, and music, jaymez brings a unique and multifaceted approach to design, refined over nearly two decades of professional practice. He has worked as a production designer, crafting dozens of lighting, video, and sound designs for a wide array of directors, choreographers, artists, and musicians.
His artwork and designs have garnered international recognition across multiple continents, a solo exhibition and two Winnipeg Theatre Awards. Currently based in Winnipeg, he actively serves on the board of directors and is a proud member of IATSE Local ADC659.
