Set Yourself Free
We all have things in our life that tie us emotionally and spiritually, yet we often don’t know how, when or where to let loose in our self expression. In this workshop, we will use poetry and songwriting as a way to free ourselves from the things that hold us back from being our true selves. No matter how raw the subject matter is or how revealing the words are, this will be a place for conversation and camaraderie.

Mad Static is a hip-hop artist, poet, and songwriter, based out of Milwaukee. As a teenager, he looked to music (specifically hip-hop, metal, and alternative rock) as a way of dealing with the pressures of high school and living up to others’ expectations, that nearly led him to depression. Ever since he first performed poetry for his high school talent show, Static began going non-stop at writing and doing whatever it took to get his name heard.
As he made music a full-time ambition, he began cultivating his signature sound through various styles. A sound that intentionally mixes spoken word roots, with sounds including Boom Bap, contemporary Trap, as well as House and Industrial. Static’s songs flow back and forth between themes of sociopolitical anguish to determination and self-discovery, recited in almost a stream-of-consciousness delivery.
