Previously she had been living in London and in 1984 joined the first ever London Community Music project set up by John Stevens (drummer) and John Cummings (Serious). Initially it was called Search and Reflect. She did sit next to a very young and a very talented Courntey Pine the year before his career propelled him to become an international star.
Last October Lynda’s piano trio played 2 recitals at St James’s Church Piccadilly London. They were part of the new Saturday Live programme.
Lynda has also been involved in M&G Investments ‘Reframing Retirement’. A campaign to change the conversation around retirement.
Since the late 80’s Lynda has played in many Hastings music venues. One of the most memorable gigs was in 2005 was when her quartet with Paul Whitten (db), Luke Rattenbury (gtr) and the late Dave Trigwell (drms) played the opening set for Courtney Pine at the De La Warr Pavilion. Bexhill. She also played in the popular Jazz Breakfast series when St Mary in the Castle was reopened as a concert venue.
Adrian York is a composer, jazz pianist, producer, broadcaster, academic and writer based near Lewes. He regularly plays at East Grinstead Jazz Club, accompanies many jazz singers and has his own project “Conversations with Bill” playing the music of Bill Evans.
Paul Whitten
Lynda says “it’s wonderful to be working with Paul again”, notably “the best jazz bassist in the South of England” say promoters of the Swanage Jazz Festival. She can only agree. He is one of the best bass players that she has worked with. Paul is a popular sideman playing for many Brighton based ensembles eg Terry Seabrook Trio, Chris Coull Quartet, Jason Henson Trio and Adrian York
