***ITS BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND**** Hastings RNLI Lifeboat Station will hold their second 'December Dip’ this year to raise vital funds for the lifesaving work of its volunteer crew.
This festive event for the local community will take place on Sunday 8th March Participants will be encouraged to raise money for their local lifeboat station by braving a quick sea dip in waters that officially average a bracing 11°C in December, although with the summer we have had this year, it could be to a barmy 13.4 Degrees ( no promises!)
Hosted at Hastings Lifeboat Station, the event will open for registration from 9.00am, with the first participants set to take the plunge from 10.30am.
The will be "waves" of swimmers at the following times ( please see the booking page for full details, this year when booking in advance you will be asked to select a wave time)
Wave 1 - 10.30AM
Wave 2 - 10.50AM
Wave 3 - 11.10AM
Wave 4 - 11.30AM
Wave 5 - 11.50AM
**note there may be the opportunity to "turn up and pay" on the day and the team will slot you into the next available wave, but please do check our social media nearer the time for current availability. For safety reasons once a wave is full, its full, and we do expect most of the wave tickets to sell out in advance given the popularity of the event last year***
Each participant can enter for £7 and they will be encouraged to raise sponsorship from friends and family - registered participants will automatically receive a personal Just Giving page. There will be limited registration at the event on the day for £10.
Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged and this year we will be awarding prizes for best costume!
After their dip, participants will receive a hot drink and a sweet treat.
For those not participating in the dip, there will be Christmas music to enjoy as well as the RNLI shop being open and hot drinks and breakfast rolls will be available for purchase.
Full safety measures will be in place, including lifeguards and medical team.
This event is open to both adults and children over the age of 12. Younger children are welcome to attend but cannot take part in the dip. All children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.
All participants are asked to arrive for sign-in at the lifeboat station between 9.00 and 10.15am where they will be given a wristband. This wristband must be worn at all times and checked before and after the dip.
Paid parking is available in nearby public car parks or on street parking.
