About this Event
The discussion will feature Tom Peppiatt alongside Aki Ra — a former child soldier who has dedicated his life to clearing landmines in Cambodia and rescuing children from the legacy of war. Once forced to fight as a child, Aki Ra has since become one of the world’s most remarkable humanitarian figures, personally removing tens of thousands of landmines and founding the Cambodia Self Help Demining organization.
This conversation will explore the making of My Husband the Child Soldier, the realities of child soldiering, and Aki Ra’s extraordinary journey from survivor to activist. The event will also highlight the ongoing work to clear unexploded landmines and support communities rebuilding after conflict.
Expect an honest, moving, and inspiring dialogue about resilience, justice, and the power of individuals to create change.
