One of the greatest contemporary masters of the lute, Paul O'Dette, a longtime professor at the Eastman School of Music, is one of the leading figures in early music worldwide, with three Grammy Awards to his credit and appearances on more than 155 recordings, including a five-disc set of the complete works of the English Renaissance composer John Dowland. O'Dette, a celebrated conductor of Baroque opera and a co-artistic director since 1993 of the Boston Early Music Festival, will mark the 400th anniversary of Dowland's death in his program, which will be preceded that afternoon by a lecture-demonstration on the art of the lute. O'Dette is making a limited tour of three Florida cities, and fans of early music will not want to miss this rare appearance.
