Lunch Time Talk: Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Join Jeff Richards for three lively and informal lunchtime talks exploring some of the stories hidden within St Nicholas Church and its history.

These are not formal lectures. The style is relaxed, accessible and conversational, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, join in the discussion and look more closely at the features being talked about. Each session lasts from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, and everyone will receive a handout to take away after the talk.

The Stones Cry Out: The Stories Behind St Nicholas' War Memorials

Who are the people remembered in the church, and what can their memorials tell us about Sutton, war and remembrance? This talk explores some of the stories behind St Nicholas' war memorials and the lives connected with them.

The Listed Monuments of St Nicholas

St Nicholas contains several important historic monuments, each with its own story. Discover who they commemorate, what makes them significant, and what they reveal about Sutton's past.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels: The Criminal Clergy of St Nicholas

A rather less respectable journey through the history of St Nicholas. Meet some of the clergy whose behaviour was memorable for all the wrong reasons, in a lively look at scandal, misbehaviour and the more colourful side of parish history.
