Guildford Opera’s autumn production is Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. A powerful story of forbidden love, treachery and deceit. Lucia loves Edgardo, the enemy of her family, but her brother’s determination to force her into a marriage of convenience has devastating consequences. Donizetti’s score combines soaring melody with intense dramatic emotion, culminating in Lucia’s iconic ‘Mad Scene’. A cornerstone of the operatic repertoire, the title role demands breathtaking vocal agility and expression.
Sung in English, our production features soprano Camilla Jeppeson as Lucia and Grigore Riciu as her forbidden love. Lewis Gaston conducts the Guildford Opera Chorus and Chamber Orchestra in this unmissable musical treat.
Performances also on Thursday Dec3 and Friday Dec 4 @7pm and Sat Dec 5th @6.30pm
