You are invited to the upcoming LU-MRRL Lecture Series event, "Undead Ahead: Anthropological Considerations of Vampires." This event is scheduled for Oct 14 from 6:30-8PM at the Art Gallery, Missouri River Regional Library (214 Adams Street, Jefferson City). This talk will feature Dr. Christine E. Boston, an associate professor of anthropology and sociology from the department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Lincoln. Additional information is available here:Vampires have captured the public’s imaginations for over a century, but they have not always been favored undead creatures. In this talk Dr. Christine E. Boston, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Sociology, will use an anthropological lens to explore the history and cultural meanings of the undead and the rise of vampires. She will address the origin stories of unfortunate souls with unfinished business to the real life vampires that exist today, the linguistic history of the term vampire, and the archaeological evidence to support our historical narratives of these creatures. If you are a sucker for a good time, you will not want to miss this talk!
