Join the 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐚 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚 for 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐞𝐢𝐥, an evening of music shaped by spirituality, nature, and memory at Hotel Peter & Paul.The program opens with 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑽𝒆𝒊𝒍, featuring cellist 𝐉𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐉𝐚𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭. Written in 1988, the work was inspired by the Orthodox Christian tradition and unfolds through waves of sound that rise and recede like a meditation. Performed by strings alone, Tavener's music invites the listener into a space of contemplation.
After intermission, the program continues with 𝐃𝐚𝐰𝐧 𝐀𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲'𝐬 𝑮𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝑴𝒐𝒐𝒏 and 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧'𝐬 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔. Avery's work turns toward the natural world, while Coleman's piece explores memory and the ways experiences remain with us. Together, the three works create a program that moves between the spiritual and the personal.
