A flat piece of metal can become far more dimensional when texture is shaped into its surface. In our Low Tech Repousse Copper Cuff Bracelet class, you’ll begin by soldering two pieces of 24-gauge metal sheet together. You’ll then use repoussé to work an organic texture into the cuff, transforming the metal into a dimensional bracelet.
The project offers a hands-on way to explore how texture and form can work together. Rather than adding a pattern only to the surface, repoussé allows the texture itself to help shape the character of the finished cuff.
This is an intermediate-level class for makers who already have knowledge of soldering and sawing. You’ll build on those skills while exploring a different approach to creating dimension in metal.
Your instructor, Kim St. Jean, is Tucson Jewelry School’s resident artist and has more than 25 years of jewelry-making teaching experience. She’ll guide you through the soldering and repoussé techniques used to create the cuff.
