About this Event
The night will feature trailblazing multi-instrumentalist Sam Morrison, luminous guitar duo Morning Drifts, drenched sophisticates Wet Currency, and NYC favorite Primo, who makes 90s catharsis feel essential in the present dancefloor moment! Please please join us from 8pm til late. $20
Primo's sounds move through heavy, entrancing obscurities, euphoric pop, and moments of gothy electro and tech disco. As a teenager in the '90s, too anxious to make it to raves, he found much of this energy alone in his room, making tapes from college radio. His sets continue that early discovery - bringing the sounds he once experienced alone - into the collective space of the dance floor. He is now based in NYC after several years throwing parties in San Francisco.
Wet Currency is made up of visual and noise artist Mekko Harjo and experimental producer NY Graffiti. Facing the collapse of genre, the duo wields the drama of drone, noise, minimalism, and electronic musics towards a sonic catharsis.
Morning Drifts is a freeform guitar duo featuring Amye McCarther and Warren Ng navigating the spaces and states of being between noisy ambience and tremulous decay. Warren has numerous solo releases as Somnambulists including 'From the Field to the Factory' and 'Ascending Planes' on the Zum label, and Amye has a forthcoming solo recording as Bleach Corals on Soap Library.
Sam Morrison is a performer and composer working in spaces (and at times tensions) between formative musical training and longtime DIY practices—working with piano, keyboards, electronics, guitars, brass, and found sound; drawing on improvisation, sampling and editing, minimalism, and song craft.
