Loving Vincent is an adult animated film using
• Hand-Painted Frames: The movie consists of roughly 65,000 individual oil paintings on canvas.
• Over 100 to 125 specialized painters worked hand-in-hand to replicate Vincent van Gogh's distinct, swirling brushstrokes and color palette.
• Scenes were initially filmed in live-action with actors like Robert Gulaczyk (as Van Gogh), Douglas Booth, and Saoirse Ronan, then hand-painted over frame-by-frame at 12 frames per second.
• Every major character and landscape in the film is directly modeled after known Van Gogh portraits and locations in Paris, Arles, and Auvers-sur-Oise.
