About this Event
Loving Kindness Meditation comes from the Buddhist tradition, but it can be adapted and practiced by anyone, regardless of religious affiliation; loving-kindness meditation is essentially about cultivating love. The process is first one of softening, breaking down the barriers that we feel inwardly toward ourselves, and the those we feel toward others.
Research has shown that regular practice can lead to increased happiness, reduced stress and improved relationships.
Loving-kindness meditation is led by Karen Van Norstrand, a 6-year volunteer at People's Place and a 40-year resident of Ulster County.
Karen has had a life-long pursuit of self-improvement through spiritual avenues and was led to loving-kindness meditation by the teachings of Sharon Salzberg and Jack Kornfield.
