A weekly low cost relaxed and gentle class where we can enjoy being in community and meditating together
About this Event

This weekly class begins with a variety of exercises to settle the body in preparation of meditation - easy breath and body awareness exercises, energy visualisations etc - before being guided through a Loving Kindness Meditation.

This is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate love and compassion for yourself, others and the world beyond. By coming together and following the intention of these simple practices we soften, shift and move through resistance, releasing the heavier feelings of anxiety, stress, grief, self-criticism, anger etc. and move into a deeper, calmer, more loving and peaceful space. by first cultivating feelings of love, happiness and security for ourselves we are able to extend out to the collective - dissolving disconnection and fear with the transformative healing power of love. We finish by sitting in Zazen meditation - a moment where we can drop everything, and just be, with no other intention other than just sitting with ourselves.

About Joanna:

I spent a good portion of my life seeking balance within my physical, mental, emotional and spriritual life. My journey took me to many places, both in my outer and interior world, through poor mental and physical health, addiction and recovery, lived and family experience of neuro-diversity and healing family trauma. Age and experience led me to go deeper and finally to stop, to pause and learn to just be – a continual practice of coming out of my head and into my body and heart to be present to the moment. I try to live according to the balance of Ayni – of reciprocity and right relationship with myself, all beings and to Mother Earth herself. The tools I used to help me find this balance and healing and that I continue to practice to the best of my ability today come from the field of Therapeutic Sound (Sound Healing), Shamanic practices including the Andean Energy Medicine, Celtic Shamanism and Native American Medicine, Yoga, breath work, dance and Buddhist teachings and meditation. Whilst many of these teachings come from heritages other than my own, I am very grateful for my teachers and the lineage of those who held these teachings and shared them – some via direct teaching and others through their writing. I am grateful that I can share them with you - to support you, your families and our communities, for healing, connection and presence.
Credentials:I am an experienced and qualified Sound Practitioner, Shamanic Practitioner and Yoga teacher, having started my qualification journey in 2008. I hold an MA in Applied Anthropology, Youth and Community and have worked with special educational needs, young people and families for over 25 years.I trained with the College of Sound Healing, Simon Heather, the British Academy of Sound Therapy, Don Conreaux, Carolyn Cowan, Sevanti of Unity Studios, Pampamesayoq Don Agustin Machacca Flores of the Q’ero Nation, Ali Rabjohns, and Deb Dana among many others. I am DBS checked and have completed many other useful courses including first aid, safeguarding, level 2 counselling.www.joannamcewen.co.uk
