In our second offering at the Philly Pride Arts Festival, ePOP joins forces with Wear Yellow Proudly to present a Love Notes Special EditionAbout this Event
In our second offering at the Philly Pride Arts Festival, ePOP joins forces with Wear Yellow Proudly to present a Love Notes Special Edition: Memoirs of a Gaysian.
This cabaret event speaks to the unique perspectives of Queer-Asian experiences. Highlighting Queer and Asian composers and librettists, this recital program incorporates songs and arias from the traditional classical music canon, as well as works from living composers.
Being Asian and being Queer are often compartmentalized - traditional family values and limited accessibility to same-sex marriages in Asian countries result in many LGBTQIA+ people being silenced. Join us for an evening where Queer-Asian artists unite these two worlds, sharing their unique stories and perspectives with you.
The performance will take place at Society Hill Dance Academy on June 12, 2026.
About Love Notes, and why this Special Edition:
During the first winter of the covid pandemic, we brought you , a virtual cabaret featuring world-class opera artists singing songs all about love.
The following year, we brought you , which focused on the real and less than ideal side of love. With both virtual and in person formats, we were able to reach a wider audience while highlighting Philly-based artists.
The next year, we were back with , a contemplation on self-reflection, struggle, and growth… with a little levity and humor mixed in.
And last year we brought you our final edition in the series, , which highlighted the greatest love of all: that which we share with one another. The love of community. At the show, we connected our audience to several mutual aid groups in Philadelphia, and to the direct work needed to uplift them. That is love made manifest.
When last year, we were invited by Wear Yellow Proudly to attend their presentation of "Memoirs of a Gaysian", we immediately knew that this was a show that we wanted to share with our audiences. We were so moved by the stories, the music, and the level of talent. It was truly a thrilling evening. As we started talks with WYP about collaborating to produce this show during Pride 2026, it quickly became obvious that this show would fit perfectly within the Love Notes series. So, we invite you back for this Special Edition, and hope that you walk away as touched, inspired, and uplifted as we were.
