About this Event
Creative Room Art Space invites you to an afternoon of art and conversation with award-winning Brisbane-based artist Olga Bakhtina, held as part of her solo exhibition Love, Life & the Other Circus.
“Making sense of life, while leaving room for its absurdities.”
What inspires an artist to paint? How do memories, emotions and everyday encounters find their way onto the canvas? And how does something familiar become a little unexpected?
During this Artist Talk, Olga will share stories from her artistic journey, reflect on the influences that have shaped her work and offer a glimpse into the ideas and inspirations behind her paintings.
Known for her expressive brushwork, vibrant colours and imaginative compositions, Olga creates paintings that move between reality and imagination. Her exhibition Love, Life & the Other Circus brings together women and animals, lovers and dreamers, Venetian scenes and curious characters, each suggesting a story that viewers are invited to interpret for themselves.
The conversation will explore Olga's creative process, her fascination with human nature and storytelling, and the role of intuition and emotion in her work. It is an opportunity to look at the paintings from a different perspective and hear the artist's own thoughts about the worlds she creates.
There will be time for questions and an informal conversation with Olga.
