About:
The Great Filipino Songbook beckons you into the Golden Age of Filipino song, where tender kundimans and stirring compositions shaped a people’s identity. Reimagined by Lou Ella Rose and SamaSama Project for today’s listeners, these rediscovered gems by visionary Filipino composers also tell an almost-forgotten shared history between the Philippines and America, reflecting the Asian American journey of migration, resilience, and cultural exchange. Featuring guest artists Patricia Mosley, Tirzah Joy, Sonia Oyola, Melissa Flavia and R. Darryl Thomas with Howie Pfifer on the piano, this performance brings vibrant arrangements and rarely heard stories that resonate with all of us today.
SamaSama Project is composed of Lou Ella Rose (lead vocals), Baron Cabalona (keyboards), Ran Sevilla (rhythm guitar), John Kniker (lead guitars), EJ Luna (bass guitar), and Migs Dimaculangan (drums)
