About this Event
Walking around Seattle, you’ve likely encountered someone with untreated psychosis. We're not alone in this — many U.S. cities are facing an ongoing crisis of people with severe mental illness who cycle between the streets, hospitals, and jails.
Why is it like this?
In the Lost Patients podcast, reporters from KUOW and The Seattle Times examined Washington state's maze-like system for treating severe mental illness and past decisions that led to this outcome.
Join KUOW’s Libby Denkmann and Lost Patients hosts Will James and Sydney Brownstone, along with a panel of guests, as we explore the current barriers to effective care for severe mental health issues and what it will take to find solutions.
Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Downtown Seattle Public Library.
Host:
Libby Denkmann, host of Soundside, KUOW
Featured Guests:
Will James, host and reporter of Lost Patients podcast
Sydney Brownstone, host and reporter of Lost Patients podcast

About the Lost Patients podcast
Lost Patients is a deeply-reported, six-part docuseries examining the difficulties of treating serious mental illness through the lens of one city's past, present and future. With real-life testimonials from patients, families, and professionals on the front lines, Lost Patients provides a real, solutions-oriented look at how we got stuck here...and what we might do to break free. Lost Patients is a joint production of KUOW and Seattle Times. It is distributed by the NPR Network.
