Lost & Found – Sanna KostamoPhotography Exhibition on Abandoned Spanish Dogs
📍 Solaris Centre, Tallinn | October 17–31, 2026
🎉 Vernissage on October 17 at 12:00
Through this exhibition, I take viewers into Spanish dog shelters, places wherelife and death exist side by side.
The photographs tell the stories of dogs that have found their way to rescue shelters. Only some of them will ultimately hit the jackpot: a permanent home where fear can gradually give way to trust.
One of the central subjects of the exhibition is the Galgo Español (Spanish Greyhound), a breed considered among the most mistreated dogs in the world. Tens of thousands of Galgos are abandoned in Spain every year, and many face a cruel fate in the name of tradition. As hunting dogs are often classified as working animals rather than companion animals, they remain in a particularly vulnerable position.
This subject is deeply personal to me. I have adopted Galgos from Spain myself and have spent many years volunteering for their welfare. Through these experiences, I have come to understand how profoundly animals can feel, and I feel a strong need to give a voice to those who cannot tell their own stories.
The relationship between humans and animals lies at the heart of my artistic practice. In previous projects, I have explored this connection through subjects such as wild horses in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With Lost & Found, I continue that exploration by focusing on dogs whose lives have been shaped by abandonment, survival, and hope.
I warmly welcome you to the exhibition. ❤
