Look and See! Studio Drawing Workshop
There is a difference between looking at something and really seeing it. Before we draw we can look at objects without seeing: we identify what we are looking at, assume we know it, and crack on. This is a day to explore ways to see the essential lines and colours.
You will work through enjoyable drawing exercises in looking and seeing objects, effective mark-making and colour selection and occasionally with reference to artists whose approaches offer a different way of observing objects around us. We will introduce you to methods and materials to develop skills you can use in your future drawings.
Small classes, with plenty of space to work — a full day of drawing and colour, tutored by Alan.

Who it's for?
Who benefits is decided by pursuit, not experience. Someone returning to drawing after years away and someone already deep into their own studio practice can sit in the same room and both find real value — together they look closely, test an idea, and see where it leads.
Seven painters and printmakers took part in an early trial of the Look and See Workshop and found real value in the process — proof the structure holds up for practised makers as much as for people starting out.

Studio-based tuition, with a day of hands-on time — not a demonstration you watch, but skills you actually practise and form as your own. Guided throughout by Alan.
Recommend B, 2B and 6B Drawing pencils and eraser - a few sticks of Willow charcoal, medium - A3 sketchbook suitable for charcoal, pencil or 6 sheets of loose similar quality paper.
