Calling all local kids ages 8–13 — come shoot your shot with us!The Longmont Elks Hoop Shoot is a completely FREE free-throw competition, and what starts right here in Longmont can turn into something pretty incredible.
Kids compete in three age groups — 8–9, 10–11 and 12–13 — with boys and girls competing separately. You don’t need to be on a team or be a basketball superstar to come give it a try.
But if your kid CAN shoot… here’s where things get fun.
Winners can advance from our local competition to Districts, then State, Regionals and eventually the National Finals in Chicago!
Just 72 kids from across the country make it to Nationals, where they’ll compete at Wintrust Arena on April 17, 2027. Six of those kids will become National Champions and have their names permanently inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Seriously — your kid can walk into a local competition in Longmont and potentially end up competing on a national stage in Chicago. How cool is that?
The Hoop Shoot has been an Elks tradition for more than 50 years and is all about giving kids a chance to challenge themselves, practice a little grit and see just how far they can go.
Ages are determined by the child’s age as of April 1, 2027, and participants may only compete in one Elks Lodge contest during the season.
Come out, shoot some free throws, have some fun and see what happens. We would LOVE to send some Longmont kids on to the next round!
