About this Event
Long Shot is a monthly experimental comedy night at Vox Populi hosted by Liam Paris and Lea Devon Sorrentino, featuring bold, never-before-seen longer-format performances from artists testing new work in front of a live audience.
This month, AZ Espinoza presents MarZ: A Menstrual Musical , a duet for one body. Part stand-up, part experimental dance, and always a reckoning, the piece follows AZ as he navigates the elaborate internal maps he’s drawn to defend against the discomforts of dysphoria. The real question: can he actually read them?
In this solo performance (perennially supported by friends along the way — especially imaginary ones), AZ tests new material before another bout of puberty threatens to make it all prematurely outdated. It’s tender, strange, funny, and unafraid to live inside contradiction.
Content note: includes discussions of nudity, male menstruation, body dysmorphia, gender dysphoria, and time travel.
