Lone Working in Healthcare
This practical and engaging session is designed for healthcare professionals who work alone in the community, in patients' homes, or in situations where immediate support from colleagues may not be available. The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to make informed personal safety decisions while carrying out their role.
The training is delivered by an approved Suzy Lamplugh Trust Trainer and an experienced community nurse, bringing together specialist expertise in personal safety and real-world healthcare experience.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand what it means to be safe at work when lone working.
- Identify personal safety risks that may arise in healthcare and community settings.
- Recognise strategies to reduce, avoid, and manage risks while working alone.
- Develop awareness of dynamic risk assessment and situational awareness.
- Describe actions that can be taken to help ensure their own personal safety and the safety of others.
- Apply practical techniques and best practice principles to support safe lone working.
This course supports healthcare staff to work confidently and safely, helping to reduce risk and promote personal wellbeing while delivering high-quality care in a range of settings.
