About this Event
Event Photos

We have invited Andy Cuthbertson, a historian that we saw give a fascinating talk about Royston, to look into Riddrie and Carntyne's past. Andy will present their findings at Riddrie Library on Tuesday 9th December, covering the Industrial Revolution, the cooperative movement, town planning, and more! We hope to continue the local history sessions into the new year and we want them to be interactive, so please come with your own stories and memories of the area. Refreshments provided.
Andy Cuthbertson is an award-winning historian of the Industrial Revolution specialising in the lives of women and children, education and living conditions. They have previously provided talks for King Charles as well as politicians from around the world and worked across a number of building restoration projects including at New Lanark and in Royston.
East End My Friend is a collective of people living in the east end of Glasgow who want to use arts and culture to bring our communities together. We want to learn about and amplify the histories of our neighbourhoods and provide platforms for local artists to share their work. In doing this we hope to strenghten community ties, combat alienation and be part of fostering a thriving local arts scene.
