Sugar Skull Decorating for Día de los Muertos! 💀🌼
Join Latino Outdoors Wyoming chapter for an afternoon of sugar skull decorating in the park in Laramie! Come honor and celebrate loved ones who have passed while getting creative with colorful icing, sparkle, and community. All supplies are provided, and no experience is needed.
IMPORTANT: All ages are welcome! Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Each adult participant must register with their own name and email, where they will receive a waiver to fill out before the event.
REGISTRATION CLOSES ON October 21! Spots are limited.
If you can’t attend, please let us know as soon as possible by replying to your Eventbrite email so we can release your spot to someone on the waitlist.
Schedule
- [1 pm] Arrive, check in, and get settled
- [1:15pm] Welcome and a short talk about Día de los Muertos and the meaning of sugar skulls (calaveras de azúcar)
- [1:15 - 4pm] Decorating time!
- [4 pm] Clean up and goodbye
What to Bring
- Layers (jacket, hat, gloves) for the cool fall weather
- Water bottle
- A container or box to carry your skull home (they’re fragile!)
- [Optional: a photo or small memento of a loved one for the community ofrenda]
- Sunscreen and sunglasses
What We’ll Provide
- Sugar skulls
- Royal icing in assorted colors
- Decorations (sequins, foil, beads, etc.)
- Tables and cleanup supplies
- Pan de Muerto and hot chocolate
Note: Sugar skulls are decorative and not meant to be eaten, since some decorations are not edible.

As a participant of this outing, I abide by the following policies:
No-Show/Late Cancellation: Our volunteers prepare supplies for each registered participant. Please let us know as early as possible if you can’t make it so we can offer your spot to someone else.
Photography: We will have a designated volunteer photographer. The waiver includes a photo release for Latino Outdoors social media. For your own social media, please ask for consent before posting anyone else, especially children.
Respect the Tradition: Día de los Muertos is a meaningful cultural and spiritual tradition. We welcome everyone to learn and take part, and we ask that you approach it with respect.
Community Agreements
Come As You Are: We honor and celebrate the full spectrum of gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, ability, and family structures. Show up as your whole self, and allow others to do the same.
Respect All Identities and Pronouns: Use the names and pronouns people share with you. If you make a mistake, gently correct yourself and move on.
Consent is Key: Always ask before touching someone or taking photos of others. Please respect people's physical, emotional, and social boundaries.
Share the Work: Please help with setup and cleanup if you’re able!
Leave No Trace & Respect the Land: Clean up after yourself, pick up any sequins or glitter, and leave the park better than we found it.
Communicate Openly & Kindly: If conflicts come up or you feel uncomfortable, talk to a lead organizer or volunteer.

This is a free event! Latino Outdoors provides all decorating supplies.
Can I bring my kids?
Yes! Kids are welcome with a parent or guardian.
Language Accessibility Disclosure
As a volunteer-led chapter of Latino Outdoors, we rely on the language skills of our volunteers and partners. Due to limited capacity and funding, we are not able to provide consistent multilingual programming in Spanish or other Native languages. We value transparency and Language Justice, and want participants to know what to expect.
