About this Event
LO Austin | Sábado de snorkel con Save Our Springs
Latino Outdoors Austin Invites you to Barton Springs Pool for an underwater adventure with Save our Springs Alliance.
This event will be led by Joel, of Save Our Springs, who will lead us with 30-45 minutes of educational content about the importance of springs in our home state. We will then get to snorkel in Barton Springs and have the chance to identity wildlife and see exactly where our spring water comes from. It may be a cool morning, so be prepared with extra layers.
HOW TO PREPARE AND WHAT TO BRING
Masks and snorkels will be provided, but if you have your own gear feel free to bring it. Wear a swimsuit, sunscreen (we prefer non-aerosol), bring a towel and a water bottle. It may be a cool swim so bring extra layers for warmth. Hiking sandals or Crocs are recommended. Water shoes for the snorkel potion are optional, bare feet work just fine.
WHAT TO EXPECT
30 -45 minutes of educational content at different “stops” around the pool and 45minutes of (optional) guide-led snorkeling. Our main snorkel route will be in 4-5 feet of water, with options to explore areas of the pool up to 17 feet deep. There are shallow water options available for non-snorkelers.
