Damont R. Combs, professionally known as Mr. Orange Live, is an award-winning poet, recording artist, author, educator, producer, Recording Academy Voting Member, and community advocate from South Jamaica, Queens, New York. For more than fifteen years, he has used poetry, music, film, and education to explore identity, resilience, healing, and social change. His work has been featured on stages, in classrooms, correctional facilities, and communities across the country, earning recognition including National Poet of the Year, Humanitarian of the Year, the Rhode Island State Citation, and Motif Magazine's Community Advocate for Poetry.
Combs is the Founder and Executive Director of Tell Your Truth and serves as the Program Director for Poetry Out Loud Rhode Island, where he develops literary arts programming that empowers young people and communities to discover their voices through the written and spoken word. Whether performing original work, mentoring emerging artists, producing cultural events, or advocating for arts education, his mission remains the same: to create spaces where people find the courage to tell their truth, transform their stories into purpose, and inspire lasting change.
