About this Event
Borderline Personality & Trauma Support Group
You deserve to be heard, understood, and supported.
Whether you have Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), suspect you may have it, or struggle with intense emotions, trauma, or building healthy relationships, this is a safe, welcoming space to connect with others who understand.
Together, we’ll share experiences, explore resources and therapy approaches, learn DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills, and discover ways to navigate emotions and build healthier relationships.
You don’t have to navigate it alone.
Meetings are on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month.
Hosted by Emily Maynard
“Ever since I was little Emily I have experienced intense emotions that I could not even begin to understand or manage. As I watched the individuals around me manage their daily emotions and build a life around them, I always asked myself, “why can’t I seem to do that”? I was shut down and shamed by those who couldn’t fathom what I was experiencing inside my mind.
Borderline personality disorder was not something I, nor my family knew anything about, but as I learned about it, everything started to make sense. I didn’t choose to have daily intense mood swings or unstable relationships, there was something so much deeper going on.
I was 19 years old and I just got this extremely serious and confusing diagnosis. To say the least, it got worse before it got better.
I found that the resources for mental health around me and within my community left out those with borderline and other personality disorder. I shamed myself, thinking I wasn’t working hard enough at doing CBT.
When I was ready, I started reading and listening to other individuals therapeutic journeys and realized how different the approach needs to be in tackling the symptoms of BPD, compared to other diagnoses.
There is hope for us out there and I strive to share that with others. I eventually dove into practicing as well as educating myself about different therapies such as EMDR, DBT, somatic, IFS therapy and more. I want to spread this information and create a space for people with borderline and similar issues. We don’t have to figure out the answers all by ourselves, lets do it together. There is hope for us in creating a life worth living.” - Emily Maynard
