Understand ADHD overwhelm and learn practical ways to manage strong emotions, overstimulation and rejection sensitivity.
About this Event

Managing Overwhelm is the third workshop in Living Well with ADHD, a four-week adult ADHD life skills series.

ADHD overwhelm can build quickly. Strong emotions, competing demands, sensory input and sensitivity to criticism or rejection can make it difficult to think clearly or respond in the way we would like.

We’ll cover:

  • Why ADHD can affect emotional regulation
  • Recognising triggers and early signs of overload
  • Emotional, cognitive and sensory overwhelm
  • Sensitivity to criticism, conflict or perceived rejection
  • Practical ways to pause, reduce the load and regulate

You’ll have time to explore your own signs of overwhelm and begin creating a personalised regulation plan using strategies that feel realistic for you.

About:

The workshop is led by Jennie Canty, a neurodivergent-specialist psychotherapist with both professional and lived experience of ADHD.

This is a friendly, practical session combining straightforward teaching, personal reflection and useful strategies. There is no pressure to speak or share personal information.

This workshop is for adults aged 18+. You do not need a formal ADHD diagnosis and are welcome if you are diagnosed, waiting for assessment or identify with ADHD traits.

This is an educational workshop rather than group therapy or individual clinical advice.

Practical Information:

Time: 7-8pm. Please arrive from 6:50pm so we can begin promptly.

Venue: 100a Walton Street, Aylesbury, HP21 7QP. This is within the Neuro Resilience CIC cafe, opposite Aylesbury Crown Court.

Parking: On-site parking is available. Turn into the site and use the car park on the left.

Worksheets and pens will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own notebook, drink or fidget.

Accessibility and Inclusion:

The workshop is intended to be neurodivergent-friendly:

  • No formal ADHD diagnosis is required.
  • There are no icebreakers or forced participation.
  • You will not be expected to speak or share personal experiences.
  • You are welcome to use fidgets, move around, take a break or step outside.
  • Printed worksheets will be provided. Please contact us in advance if you need them in a digital or alternative format.
  • Please contact us before booking if you require a support person, specific seating or another reasonable adjustment.

Step-free access: Ground floor venue

Ticket Options:

Tickets are available at three prices:

  • Community Rate (£5)
  • Standard Rate (£15)
  • Pay It Forward Rate (£25)

All ticket types provide exactly the same workshop experience.

Please choose the price that best reflects what you can currently afford.

Community Rate places are limited and intended for people who would otherwise struggle to attend; no evidence is required.

You can also book the complete four-workshop series through the Getting Started event page:

  • Standard Rate (£50)
  • Pay It Forward Rate (£80)

Community Rate tickets are £5 per workshop and should be booked separately for each workshop you wish to attend.

Any applicable Eventbrite fees will be shown at checkout.

Pay It Forward tickets help us provide more affordable places. Choosing a Pay It Forward ticket covers your own place and helps fund one Community Rate place for somebody who would otherwise struggle to attend.

If you would like to make a contribution of a different amount towards Pay It Forward places, please contact us.
