Jack Wright is the real one — St. Louis’ Funniest (Helium Comedy Club 2024) and one of the most active comics in the city right now.
He started stand-up at the tail end of the pandemic, grinding open mics night after night in front of tiny rooms for no money, dropping out of college twice and juggling jobs so he could stay focused on comedy. A few years later he took the title at Helium and hasn’t slowed down. These days you’ll find him hosting and performing across the STL scene — Helium, the Funny Bone, City Winery, and everywhere in between — while opening for bigger names and building a reputation as a must-see local.
What makes him different is how real he is. There’s no character, no talking down to the room, no forced edge. The guy on stage is the same person you’d run into offstage: sharp, a little grouchy, and willing to say the weird thoughts most people keep to themselves. It lands because it’s honest, not because it’s trying to shock you.
