Greg Roth is a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who records under the name Czars of Leisure. He creates “thrift store rock”, which mixes the secondhand stylings of 70s power pop, 80s new wave, 90s college/slacker alternative, and 00s indie/garage rock. A former rock journalist and political speechwriter, he treats his setlists like mixtapes, weaving together originals with covers by artists from Modest Mouse, Spoon, the Black Keys, and the White Stripes to songwriters like Elvis Costello, Beck, Stephen Malkmus, and Jeff Tweedy, then adding the occasional jam band detour. He released his third album, “Make Yourself Comfortable” in May 2026.
