LIVE EVIL IS BACK!
With all of the Ai Music Slop, Commercial Nepo-Baby Pop, and MAGA Christian Nationalist Goose-Step-Line-Dancing Country Drivel coming out of the Stream-O-Verse these days, we think it is high time to resurrect for ONE NIGHT ONLY the One True God Of Rock n Roll: LIVE EVIL!!!!
Kilowatt in San Francisco, CA is about to be ground zero for the rEVILution. It's going to be dirty, live... and oh so very raw...
The riff rock legends, Treasures will be joining the bill to make this night extra juicy. Come early. Come often. Come everywhere.
Live Evil is the twisted brainchild of Laurent Martini, who as a child in the 80’s idolized bands like Motley Crue and Poison, and spent the majority of his formative years in his room creating an imaginary band that would propel him to rock stardom. He named the band Live Evil, and wrote over 100 songs about all of the things that this band would experience being the biggest band in the world; fucking groupies, drinking Jack Daniels, getting in switchblade fights, and other lyrics that would make even Vince Neil blush. Songs like “Blow Me,” “Fuck My Way Across This Great Land,” “Shit For Brains” and a ballad simply known as “Fuck” were just a few of the hits in his massive catalogue. At 14 years old, having no musical talent, and not being the most popular kid at his all boys French school in San Francisco, his dreams never came to fruition…
Flash forward to 2006. Laurent found his old lyrics in a dusty old box in his parents garage and decided to read them at “Mortified,” a live show at The Make Out Room where people read aloud their old childhood diaries. The songs are a smashing success. It wasn’t the success he would’ve wanted when he was a kid, as the songs are a hilarious time capsule to a time of horny desperation. The next month he reads more songs at Mortified and he quickly becomes a staple feature.
Realizing that this might be his only chance, he used the momentum to bring in some fellow musicians and comedians to join the band: The Purge on guitar, DeathBone on bass, and Porkchop on drums, and Laurent as “Live” finally fronting the band that had only existed in his head: Live Evil
Live Evil ONLY plays the songs that he wrote from his childhood. What Live lacks in talent (which is a lot) he makes up for in charisma, and it is hard not to root for someone who never let the dream die. It is a reminder that you are never too old to live out your 14 year old fantasies (as long as it’s legal…).
